memory weaving Fern

I use the clothing of beloved little ones and weave them, along with other fibers and yarns, into memory tapestries, scarves, blankets or other pieces that you can treasure and keep close always.

In weaving memory pieces for grieving parents, I join my work as a minister, weaver and mother. I experienced a loss half way through a pregnancy to a little one who had Trisomy 18. It was a devastating experience for me.

I don't buy clothes for my little ones until much later in pregnancy. All we had for this precious one were a pair of socks that a friend gifted us early in the pregnancy. The piece you see above incorporates those four tiny socks into a circular tapestry.

There is no limit to the colors, styles or kind.

Memory pieces can be tapestries. They can be rectangular, heart shaped, circular, small, medium or large. The memory piece can be a scarf or shawl that you can warp yourself in, a blanket to hold on your lap, or even a piece of clothing.

The process of creating a memory piece is deeply moving. I work with parents throughout the process with updates and feedback.

Having a fully individual piece art created is a heart-healing process, one I tenderly and reverently hold.

These commissions range in price and I can generally accomodate most budgets.

It would be an honor for me to weave for you. Please reach out directly to me at sam@thesamanthawilde.com or on the website.
