The Nantucket Blues scarf is a dreamy blend of blues woven with drapey, soft, fluid chenille and touches of ribbon, fabric and upcycled cloth to add pops of color and play.
Inspired by the store Nantucket Blues in Nancy Thayer’s latest novel, The Summer We Started Over, this very scarf and style is the one Nancy herself commissioned.
Imagine yourself wrapped up in the lovely colors of Nantucket. On a cold winter day or a cool summer evening, you’ll be wrapped up in ocean and sky, close to the charm and magic of Nantucket Island.
Each Nantucket Blues scarf will have some variation from the one you see here–that’s because I never weave the same piece twice! As each piece is woven without pattern or plan, there may be slightly different blues used throughout. I can’t take my eyes off this beautiful piece of art!
Sam created a wedding shower gift of dreams! She wove family history into a gorgeous useful and lush shawl for the bride, who brought it all the way to Europe and included it in her wedding celebrations. Sam was thoughtful and responsive as an artist and weaver, asking questions and offering options at each step of the process. I swear to goodness there is love woven directly into the artwork. I already have a new request for her.
I took this class last winter and I look forward to taking it again this fall! Its an intentional meditation practice (both the meditation AND the weaving) but you learn a craft too! And create a beautiful object that is meaningful! While I had done various arts and crafts as a child- I was new to weaving. I was surprised how quickly the skills came with Sam’s guidance. Can’t wait to take it again! Hope to see you there.

Sam and goat yoga is amazing! Sam’s class has allowed me to become grounded in myself, connect with earth and living beings all at once. After being in a state of high anxiety constantly, this class is has been a blessing. I highly recommend this class to anyone seeking the same peace.
